I LOVE THE CAKE

Hazy Days.

Saturday. Jazz in the Park. Canada Square Park to be exact. Seriously, me and my friend have been waiting to head to this festival since we last stumbled upon it 3 yeas ago!

We kept missing out, but finally, we stumbled upon the last day of the festival, packed our lunches and sun glasses and headed down.

It was very Brazilian themed - more salsa and samba inspired Jazz instead, which was cool, it was too hot to dance like the crazed yoots we were back then to the funky Jazz anyhow.

Off to try and sleep off the Vino and Cherries we scoffed x

and she The Heart Eater went munch munch munch!

Papa K

Happy birthday innit Papa K -
I made him a carrot cake with a mascarpone topping.  A lot of love went in to it. Now we will feast on Chinese food, sip on Lambrini (Our classy tradition) and watch Eastenders!

Dancing with myself.

Listening to Generation X classics and Billy Idol noise got me looking at pictures of Idol on goOGLE (omg....that has actually just made sense to me!) Go OGLE...!!!! GOOGLE! (go and ogle! GENIUS...something I am clearly not)

Anyway, (wow, thats so clever ...i just thought it was a catchy name...like Yahoo and Bing...or is Bing a shorthand for BrowsING? ) Billy Idol was quiet beautiful once - I can't stop dancing to Hot in the City and Dancing with myself. Such a good tune.

Woe ho ho?

So in the spirit of christmas cheer my work collegues decided to set up a secret santa day and proposed dinner before the holidays.

So the tyrade of responses came a-flooding via the group email and in the christmas jeer (i like to think im funny) I decided to attach this:

Too far?

Needless to say there were no replies back.

Shawty watcho name is?

Ok so the title has nothing to do with this post. But I have that tune playing loud as I get myself ready for a mates 25th birthday celebrations. Cocktails at Soho's B@1 followed by stand up comedy at the Arts Theater Club on Frith st.

There is also a theme - big hats or hair (?) I don't really do fancy dress...not even on Halloween - unless its a damn good costume, which is both expensive and time consuming to pull off.
So I have opted to wear head gear that is kind of 'fancy' in attire. Its a black velvet headband with a huge bow from H&M kids (2.99) which happened to go perfectly with another recent and very similar purchase from ASOS. A gorgeous black velvet ruched fitted skirt. I bought it for the christmas season and love it dearly...No one said anything about not being stylish.

Saturday

...is usually spent doing work that I like. Heading to the Walworth Roads East Street food market to haggle some good meats for my mum to use in African soups and shiz.
Then I rejoice that I have time to myself to clean my room and organise my pretty things.

Then I made the mistake of lifting my bed throw up to line up my shoes quickly and I what I saw was carnage. Dramatic, yes, true ...not really. It does stress me out though, during the week I will consciously chuck clothes, books, papers (practically whatever comes my way) around knowing that they will build up and bite me in the arse one sunny day. Today was that day when I said enough is enough.

I can't liv e like this anymore - in order for me to move forward I have to clean up my shoes.
So productive...there is meaning to my life (I hear you mock) but this is hard work. It also allows me to see what I have in excess, what I can donate to charity shops and sell on Ebay. Ahhh breathe.
Spotify was my entertainment choice. A Tribe Called Quest, to be exact, made me work faster...and it made me want to see Mos Def tomorrow night : (

The crux of my evening.

What is going on here?

This is the kind of thing I do in Creative Writing. I need to make up a story from this print I chose from a collection of postcards belonging to my teacher. I chose it because I love film. This looks like a scene from a 1930s film noir.

Print: Little Penthouse

I could have laughed all night...

This is a story about my stress free friend - I say stress free - she isnt that perfect but she definitley comes close. Seriously you will always laugh in her presence - she's quiet addictive.

So me and said friend decided to meet up this Halloween and head to the South Bank for some old school arcade fun. The last time we had headed to Namco on the SB was back in secondary school (woe im old)
After commenting about the serious amount of easter european kids hanging out like we used to, and how everything looked smaller (or maybe we got bigger) we found what I was looking for.

DANCE MAT!

I had chewed her ear off the whole way from home about how I wanted dance on the dance mat because 'Im amazing' and blah - when we got there, one solitude bald guy was occupying the game, and he looked like a pro.

In my giddy moment of childishness I ran over to spectate - what dance mat pro doesnt want to be watched? But it was when we got there that we realised we had been too hasty.

The poor man wasnt dancing...not really. The music was too fast and he couldnt step in time. So naturally as one does when someone you dont know is clearly in peril (and when you know that what you and your friend should really do is allow him to salvage some dignity by walking away) we laughed. OUT LOUD.

Well if your going to dance on the dance mat, make sure you've prepared yourself beforehand. No one goes on that thing in public unless they can hustle the flow baby.

When he collected his things (and the screen exclaimed that he had FAILED GAME OVER) we jumped on.

For some reason the damn thing wouldnt do 2player so we took it in turns. Now I was having a blast , but my friend complained that it was too slow. 'Ok so we can notch it up next game'

So we brought up the difficulty and when she took the podium she flitted between the song choices, It took the girl forever and she couldnt even make one. So naturally I picked the RANDOM button for her - the computer scrolled and chose a song, but it was my friend who accepted it. (Now I heard the pace of the song and considering the level we had chosen, it had crossed my mind that this would be a little racy...)

So she steps, slowly...the arrows are like 3 at a time and we're wondering if dance mat had lost its challenge.. this was all but confirmed when the arrows slowed down and then stopped all together. We thought it was over, and I was about to push her aside to take my turn when the flashing images of the screen and the dancing female avatar re-appeared and proclaimed:

DANCEMAT: 'OK...ARE YOU READY...?'

Friend: 'Am I what, what did it say?'
Me: 'i think its going to get faster'

Before she had time to prepare the beat had kicked in, and a series of arrows, back and front, left and right...diagonall, flooded the screen...needless to say she tried her best, but being the tall 5'10 girl that she is her long legs were flying in all directions - she looked ridiculous - her face was a pure picture of horror, there was sweat from every pore. She was panting...jogging, badly.

At this point I had almost keeled over in a fit of laughter, the whole arcade had turned to watch. I didnt care it was the best thing i had seen for a long time. I still managed to grab my phone camera and document her on the dance mat...

It started off so well. The blurryness is due to me laughing.

lovely bones

I heart this man

...Zachary Quinto

Wednesday 18th March 2009

I have no idea who these old men are. Where they are standing is the new 'space' our neighbourhood council has created.
I was just leaving the block, the sun was shining and the new space looked gorgeous with all the new daffodils - but these two unregognisable men were inside - having a discussion. They were whispering however - despite the area being quiet - I was intrigued so I sluethly took a photo (concealing their faces of course)

I want this...

Spend

I just purchased this Ettica Peace Ring (ala Whitney Port) online. *Boom*
